doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation™ Donates to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, Dec. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — When children live in challenging circumstances, they often develop feelings of anxiety, loneliness, depression, and heartache. But Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utahis dedicated to steering children away from these feelings by providing them with a positive and loving role model who can help them see their full potential. For decades this program has existed as a beneficial resource for children in difficult circumstances, whether that be in the community, in school, or at home. This program has been highly effective and has touched the hearts of thousands of children and mentors nationwide.

As part of the program’s success, they hold an annual Chef & Child Gala to help fundraise for the organization.  The gala’s main events include live music, extraordinary food, and an auction for the attendee’s to participate in. As a friend of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah program, the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation happily donated a gift basket for the gala’s auction. Proceeds made from the evening’s event went toward supporting mentor and child partnerships.

The partnerships between a mentor and a child can have a significant impact on a child’s life. Many of the children in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah program come from difficult circumstances. Without a good friend or role model, these children can develop feelings of anxiety, frustration, or hopelessness concerning their future. However, with the proper mentor, they can leave those anxiety-filled and hopeless feelings behind them and grow in a caring relationship created to help them recognize their potential.

In order to help each participant grow in the way he or she needs, the organization has three main mentor programs designed to foster each child’s current and future successes. The first program is community based and allows students and mentors to get together on a one-on-one basis and do fun or needed activities that will build a healthy friendship between both the mentor and mentee. The second program is school based and mentors can meet with their mentee at school or just simply play on the school’s playground. The third program is Mentor 2.0 which is a college readiness program that connects high school students with mentors who help them prepare for entering college.

Through the gala’s success and donations like doTERRA‘s, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah is continually able to provide these successful programs and guide these children to bright and hopeful futures. Visit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah to learn more or donate.
