Amway laying off 90 workers as part of global reorganization

ADA, MI — Amway pink-slipped 90 workers this week as the direct sales giant made changes to its global structure.

The jobs being eliminated are at the private company’s Ada headquarters and Buena Park, Calif. facilities.

“Amway announced changes this week to its global structure impacting approximately 90 employees,” the company said in an email to MLive and The Grand Rapids Press.

“This action was taken following considerable review and analysis, and we are grateful to these individuals for their many contributions to Amway. We will support all impacted employees through this transition.”

The Michigan company’s annual revenues have fallen for three years in row, as sales have declined in China.

Around one-third of Amway’s $8.8 billion in revenues in 2016 came from China. The company’s dip in revenues in the market is seen as short-term and cyclical.

One of state’s largest private company, Amway’s 19,000 global workforce includes more than 4,000 employees in West Michigan.
