PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, Dec. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — “When life gives you lemons…laugh out loud,” at least that’s what Jill Swanson Peltier and the Lemons of Love team are helping others to do. Lemons of Love (LOL) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that gives uplifting care packages to individuals experiencing the bitterness of chemotherapy. With their home-stitched totes and bright goodies, the Lemons of Love team is making sure that even in life’s most difficult moments there is something sweet.
The Lemons of Love organization began two years ago after Jill, a doTERRA Wellness Advocate, was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer. Once Jill had surgery, she started chemotherapy treatments and soon discovered that she was not alone in that process. When she went to chemotherapy, she said “there are people of all ages, all stages of cancer, and I want to be able to give some ray of hope to each of them.” Not long after her first chemotherapy treatment, her desires to help others came to fruition as she started the Lemons of Love organization.
The Lemons of Love organization is supported by numerous volunteers around the nation and “runs solely on the generosity of humanity.” Volunteers help assemble gift packages, sew the totes (LOL bags) that the goodies are delivered in, and donate items that will best uplift those who are fighting disease and cancer. doTERRA was thrilled to add to the efforts of Lemons of Love by making a donation that will help LOL continue to serve people nationwide. The support of individuals and companies like doTERRA is expanding Lemons of Love and is helping them bring LOL bags to hospitals all over the country.
When chemotherapy patients receive these LOL bags, Lemons of Love wants them to think positive, feel hopeful, and maybe even laugh out loud. Having had previous experience with the difficulties of fighting cancer and going through chemotherapy, Jill ensures that all of the bags are filled with happy items that truly helped her get through such a challenging time of her life. As a result, the LOL bags typically consist of Hand and Body Lotion (for dry chemo skin), Lemon drops (to eliminate any metallic chemo after taste), Dark Chocolate Acai (which contains cancer-fighting antioxidants), super hero socks (because every fighter is a hero), an uplifting picture (drawn by a child), and much more.
With doTERRA’s donation and the support of other donors and volunteers, the Lemons of Love organization is bringing the zest of life back to those battling chemotherapy.
