Veteran and doTERRA Wellness Advocate Continues Selfless Service

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, Oct. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — When natural disaster strikes, infection, homelessness, and starvation are just a few of the outcomes that threaten victims. However, Team Rubicon helps decrease these devastating effects through their qualified services and dedication. Team Rubicon is a nonprofit disaster response organization that recruits the skills and experience of military veterans and first responders around the nation. For veteran and doTERRA Wellness Advocate George LaPenta, Team Rubicon is how he fills his desire to serve and uses his many years of military and law enforcement experience to keep helping those in need.

George is one of many Team Rubicon volunteers who train and prepare to be on the frontlines when disaster happens. Volunteers participate in intensive and thorough trainings that bring maximum care to victims of floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, earthquakes, and many other disasters.

Since each disaster brings its own set of problems, Team Rubicon trains for many different disaster relief efforts. For example, large earthquakes can leave individuals injured and at a greater risk of infection, disease, or death if their wounds are not properly cared for. In response to this kind of disaster, Team Rubicon trains and deploys a Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) to offer immediate medical attention, which can help reduce infection, disease, and possibly death among victims. Along with their DMAT, Team Rubicon volunteers are also capable of providing debris management, disaster mapping, hazard mitigation, home repair, incident management, and damage and impact assessment after disaster occurs.

Additionally, these brave volunteers are not only making a difference after disasters, but they are making a difference in their communities. In George’s Team Rubicon Region 1, they have worked alongside Habitat for Humanity to build and renovate homes for veterans and their families, prepared safe trails for mountain hiking during the winter season, cleared drainage ditches and debris in their community, and done so much more. This band of volunteers is a brotherhood and sisterhood that makes an incredible impact on others and each other. To George, being a member of Team Rubicon has truly filled his need to serve and allows him to, once again, be a “part of a team where dedication, loyalty, and duty before self are priorities.” To learn more about this organization or how to donate, visit the Team Rubicon website.

doTERRA Cares is an initiative through which doTERRA International recognizes and raises awareness for Wellness Advocates who contribute to worthy causes worldwide. doTERRA International is thrilled to share George’s success and service and recognizes him as this week’s doTERRA Cares highlight!
